All Advocacy and welfare assistance is provided free by our fully trained members. Any contact with members seeking help is kept confidential.
Advocacy
Advocacy is available to ex-serving members and their dependants by way of assistance for claims and the appeals process with DVA, also representation at Veterans Review Board.
The scope includes disability, under the 3 different acts and guidance through the process in regards to the investigation of claims. Assistance is also available to veterans from the commonwealth and allied defence forces. Veterans (who qualify) can seek help for service pension application.
War widows(er)s are offered help and assistance together with family or friends as they wish.
Welfare
There is often an associated requirement that is linked to a compensation claim where assistance is available to complete the needs of each person seeking help. Assistance may include the following;
- Monetary payments,
- Help with paying utility bills,
- Food vouchers
- Emergency relief,
- Moving house / rental, and
- Visiting hospitals and nursing homes,
- Assisting with any issues/ problems within our capacity.
- Welfare advocacy
Note. Appointments are necessary, particularly for people coming from far and away places to enable them to be met without waiting and to give them precedence. Interviews can take some time to gain all relevant information.
Funerals
Bunbury RSL provides selected members to accommodate those seeking an RSL service normally through the Funeral director for an ex-serving or returned member. Deceased military members qualify without being a member of the RSL.
